ADM Supplies UPS Solution for Standby Pump in Regional Australia

ADM has recently supplied an ADEL System CBI1235A DIN rail UPS system to provide power to the emergency standby pump in a regional mining town in Australia.  

The CBI1235A was chosen for its ability to supply the control circuitry and to charge & test the motor start battery, ensuring the engine will start the pump if an emergency arises. It also reduced the need for site visits to check on the batteries, via remote monitoring. 

The CBI1235A supplied featured a Modbus communications interface, which meant the UPS could easily be integrated into the existing control system. 

The Adel System CBI1235A automatically allocates the incoming AC power between load and battery. 

Supplying power to the load takes priority. It is possible for the load to take double the rated power for short durations if required.  

Adel’s “Battery Care” feature uses algorithms that implement rapid and automatic charging, battery charge optimisation, flat battery recovery and real time diagnostics during installation and operation. The CBI1235A permits remote monitoring of the battery’s condition, permitting preventative maintenance to be carried out when required, without the expense of continually sending a technician to a remote location, just to test a battery. 

The Real Time Auto-diagnostic system monitors for battery faults such as, battery sulfated, short circuit, accidental reverse polarity connection, disconnection of the battery. These are easily identified and removed via the Blink Code of the Diagnosis LED 

The continuous monitoring of battery efficiency reduces the risk of battery damage and allows the safe operation under permanent connection.  

The ADEL System CBI1235A is suitable for most battery types. It is possible to set predefined curves for Open Lead Acid, Sealed Lead Acid, Gel, Ni-Cd(option) by means of jumpers.  

They units are programmed for two charging levels, boost and charge, but they can be changed to single charging level by the user if required.
