High Reliability Power Supply Features
The HRP series power supplies have a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C (-40°C to +60°C on the HRP-100) making them ideal for use almost anywhere in Australia.
The HRP-75, HRP-100, HRP-150, and HRP-200 are all cooled by natural air convection and have no built-in fan. This means there are no moving parts to fail. The larger models are fan cooled but have a built-in cooling fan on / off control, so the fan is only running when required, thus ensuring long life.
All HRP series power supplies have built in active power factor correction and all except the HRP-600 (600W) have a 1U low profile, making them easy to mount into those applications where you are limited for space.
The HRP-350, HRP-450, and HRP-600 all have a DC OK output signal that allows you to remotely monitor the status of the power supply. All models can be switched on and off remotely.
Power Supply Overload Protection
All the HRP high reliability power supplies utilise constant current limiting overload protection. This makes them suitable for powering DC motors. When a DC motor starts up it draws a lot more current than it does when running. This can typically be around 6 times the running current or more. To the power supply this current spike appears as an overload situation.
Many switchmode power supplies feature hiccup mode overload protection. This works by shutting the power supply off and restarting less than a second or so later. Because there will always be an inrush current present when the motor starts, the power supply gets locked into cycling on and off rapidly. When this cycling happens the power supply can appear to be faulty.
The HRP series power supplies limit the output current at maximum until the inrush current spike has passed. This allows the motor to achieve its normal running speed and for the current draw to fall back to its normal level.
Long Warranty Period
As we have already mentioned, the HRP series high reliability power supplies have been designed with reliability in mind and the whole series is backed by a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty.
