Premium PSU CBS-10K Maintaining Wind Turbine Safety During Outages

Premium PSU CBS-10K

Wind turbines often experience outages during more volatile wind conditions. During these periods, the turbine will need to remain offline; however, it may require yaw positioning to prevent severe damage from the volatile wind conditions. In such occurrences, reliance on an onboard backup power system enables various systems to return to service, including the lubrication system for the yaw to prevent metal-on-metal friction.

During normal operation, the lubrication pumps are powered and managed by DC-powered variable frequency drives (VFDs). When the system goes offline, power needs to shift to the onboard battery. To safely bridge the power transfer from the battery to the VFDs, the Premium PSU CBS-10K DC to DC converter is recommended for safe and reliable operation.

The CBS-10K smart architecture enables a seamless transition from outage to backup power by automatically switching to backup mode the moment an outage occurs. Its short-term overload capability supports the high inrush current drawn by variable-frequency drives during start-up, helping prevent shorting errors.

The Premium PSU CBS-10K offers options for 24/48/72/110 VDC, with power ratings up to 10,000W, except for the 24 VDC range, which ranges up to 5200W. This range of DC-to-DC converters offers exceptionally high galvanic isolation up to 5000 Vrms, helping prevent high-voltage surges. This range also features communication capability, with RS232 and CANBus options, enabling input/output alarms and remote monitoring via IoT or SCADA systems.

Built for rugged industrial applications, this system is certified to EN50155 and EN45545-2, making it ideal for the rail industry's demanding requirements.
